9 TIMES FASTER THAN CHROMIUM, CONSUMES 16 TIMES LESS RAM, HUGE AI BROWSER: LIGHTPANDA.
Lightpanda is an ultra—fast headless browser built from scratch for AI agents and automation processes, completely independent of the bulky patches of Chromium or WebKit, written in the Zig language.
The performance indicators of the system are really staggering:
- Memory usage: On 100 pages, Headless Chrome consumes 2 GB of RAM, while Lightpanda spends only 123 MB (about 16 times more economical).
- Speed of operation: the task that Chrome completes in 46 seconds, Lightpanda completes in just 5 seconds (about 9 times faster).
Key features and usability:
1. Easy installation and Docker support:
It can be launched in seconds via Homebrew package managers, Arch Linux, or Docker containers.
2. Advanced Agent Mode:
You just say in natural language what you want to do; the system navigates through the browser, fills out forms, and collects data. The most important aspect is that it transforms the stream into a deterministic "JavaScript" that does not consume tokens. That is, a prototype can be prepared using AI, and brought into production without the cost of LLM. Fully supports OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini and local models (Ollama).
3. Isolated Session Support (MCP):
Multiple AI agents working simultaneously do not conflict with each other. Each agent independently handles its task with its own cookies, memory, and session.
4. Modern web support:
Not only static websites, but also JavaScript-heavy dynamic applications (Single Page) such as React, Vue or Angular, it works flawlessly with them.
Despite the fact that it is in the beta stage, in the open source world it has the potential to rewrite automation processes from scratch.
